Can I use the overlays commercially?
Unchanged free overlays can be used on your own channels and accounts, including monetized posts, without credit. Client or employer work, ads, business or brand accounts beyond your own creator channel, sponsorships, customised overlays and Pro overlays need Pro’s commercial licence. Read the licence terms.
Is Studio free?
Yes. Sign in with Google to edit for free. Exports are free unless they use a Pro overlay configuration or an expressive caption style. Each overlay type has one free preset; Background and Format can change. Downloading edits to text, look, colors, size or position needs Pro. Clean, Boxed and Minimal captions export free. Pro also adds saved projects.
Can Studio add captions automatically?
Yes. Studio generates English captions on your device with a speech model your browser downloads once, about 43 MB. Fix any word in the transcript, choose a style and position, and download SRT or VTT. Clean, Boxed and Minimal export free; expressive styles need Pro.
What editing tools does Studio have?
Trim, split and reorder clips, remove silent pauses, add crossfades or dips to black, punch in on a line, reframe each clip, mix photos with video, and set volume and fades. Then add animated overlays and captions and export an MP4.
Do my videos get uploaded?
No. Your videos stay in this browser tab, and the finished MP4 is rendered and downloaded in your browser. Your videos and photos are never uploaded. Pro saves project structure, such as file names, trim points and overlay choices, never your videos; you relink local files when reopening a project.
Which formats can I export?
Studio exports MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio in 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 or 16:9. Each clip fills the frame and can be zoomed and panned, or fits whole over a blurred backdrop. Export at 1080p or 720p. Studio combines your footage and overlays into one finished video.
How long can a video be?
Up to 180 seconds, or 3 minutes, for the combined timeline. Trim your clips and arrange them in list order, then place overlays at the moments you choose.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, for basic editing in a supported browser. Studio is best on desktop, where there is more room for the media bin, program monitor and timeline. Browser support and your device’s resources affect preview and export.
How is it different from CapCut?
Studio combines your local clips with Modisign’s animated overlay library, on-device captions and quick cuts like silence removal. It runs without an install and renders without uploading your footage. Pick the editor that fits your workflow; Studio’s free editing, overlay export rules and 3-minute limit are described above.
