Each overlay type has one free preset. Choose its Background and Format; downloading edits to text, look, colors, size or position needs Pro. Studio editing is free. Export needs Pro only when it includes a Pro overlay configuration or an expressive caption style.

In the MCP, free overlays and Studio edits with no overlays or only free overlay configurations and free caption styles render without an account. Sign in once with npx -y @modisign/mcp login to use Pro.Pro overlay renders try to save settings to your account history. Studio edits never enter history.

Yes. Every free overlay renders as it is without an account, including green-screen MP4 and transparent MOV or WebM. You can change background and format, or put it on a local video up to 60 seconds. Studio exports up to 180 seconds are free with no overlays or only free overlay configurations and Clean, Boxed or Minimal captions. Downloading edits to overlay text, look, colors, size or position, Pro configurations and expressive captions needs Pro at $9/month plus applicable tax.

Yes, in the ChatGPT desktop app’s local Work or Codex mode, and in Codex CLI. This local server does not work in chatgpt.com in the browser yet.
The Modisign MCP package and its rendering dependencies. You need Node 22+ and FFmpeg, including ffprobe. The first render downloads a roughly 100–120 MB browser once; Linux ARM64 uses system Chromium. English captions download a roughly 43 MB speech model once.
No. Rendering and compositing run on your computer. Modisign receives overlay text and settings, and Studio caption style. Your assistant provider can see the tool arguments and results, including local paths, under its own policy.
